About
Marjan Verstappen works across installation, drawing, photography, and performance. Her artistic inquiry centres on the cultural fallout from European expansion and colonization — in particular, its effect on agriculture and trade.
She develops distinct bodies of work, often speculative, examining how colonization influences land use, food systems, and human coexistence with other species.
Raised in Aotearoa/New Zealand, Verstappen relocated to Canada in 2012 and currently resides in Toronto/Tkaronto.
